Our dear friend, Richard Franklin Gray, known to all as Rick, passed away on October 12, 2024, at the age of 70. Born in Chicago, Illinois, on September 28, 1954, Rick had a passion for all things automotive from a young age. His skills as an automobile mechanic were unparalleled, and he dedicated his life to helping those in need of a fix. Rick’s love for classic cars and western films were as boundless as his generosity and kindness.
He was united in marriage to Janice Kay Dugan on February 13, 1978. Together, they built a life of happiness, dedication, and love till her untimely passing on September 26, 2022.
Throughout his life, Rick found joy in the simple pleasures: spending time with his family and beloved dogs, and actively supporting the Multiple Sclerosis Society. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Janice, and a loving father to his children, Brian and Amanda. The role he treasured most was that of a doting grandfather to Ariana, Taylor, Riley. and Kori.
Rick was preceded in death by his father, Richard Gray, his wife, Janice Gray, and two sisters, Catherine “Cathy” Wilson and Wyona “Nona” Moore.
Rick’s memory will forever be cherished by his mother. Maxine Eaves, his daughter and her husband Amanda and Sean Givens, his son Brian Gray and his significant other, Jennifer Stephens, his grandchildren, Kori and husband Josh Williams, Ariana, Taylor and Riley Givens, two great-grandchildren, Heston and Hudson, as well as his brother John Eaves, numerous nephews, nieces, other family members and friends
In celebration of Rick’s life, a memorial service will be held at Greenlawn Funeral Home North in Springfield, Missouri, on October 18, 2024, at 3:00 pm. He will be laid to rest following the service next to his wife in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Family, friends, and all those touched by Rick’s kindness are welcome to join in honoring his legacy. Let us come together to share stories, laughter, and tears, as we remember a man who touched the lives of many with his warm heart and unwavering spirit.
