Ricky Dale Smith, of Springfield MO, passed away from respiratory failure on his 69th birthday, July 13, 2025, at Big Spring Nursing Home in Humansville, MO. Ricky was born to Betty Smith on July 13, 1956, in Springfield, MO.
Ricky married Vina F. Smith, and together they built a life filled with love and companionship. Their marriage was a lasting bond, cherished until Vina’s passing in 2016. Though they did not have children, their years together were marked by deep devotion and mutual support.
He was employed with Cox South Hospital for many years in the Housekeeping Department. When not working, he enjoyed riding his motorcycle. He also loved to read anything about history and especially enjoyed movies of war stories and westerns.
His favorite food was fried chicken, he especially loved the little crunchy pieces of batter, he would pick them out and eat them first! He also enjoyed fresh strawberries and strawberry ice cream.
He was proud to have been baptized and was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. Ricky was the last member of his family.
Visitation for Ricky will be held on Thursday, July 31, 2025, from 1:00PM until 3:00PM, at Greenlawn Funeral Home North in Springfield, with burial to follow at Greenlawn North Memorial Gardens in Springfield, MO.
In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to be made in Ricky’s memory to a charity of your choice.
