Robert “Bob” Alfred Zipf, 86, passed away on Thursday, January 4, 2018. He was born August 15, 1931 to William O. and Elsie J. Itterly Zipf in Nazareth, Pennsylvania. On July 28, 1956, he married Marcey Manwiller Zipf in Birdsboro, Pennsylvania.
Bob was a graduate of Nazareth High School and Oklahoma State University where he earned a degree in agricultural chemistry. He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. Bob moved to Springfield to work for Springday (now Timken) and soon left for a career he enjoyed for the rest of his life as a cowboy and farrier. Bob enjoyed horses and roping and is a Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association Gold Card member. His family and friends will remember him for many things including his unique wit and logic.
Survivors include his wife Marcey; son John (Linda) Zipf; daughters Diane Zipf, Mindy (Scott) Suver, and Nancy Zipf; grandchildren Robert (Sarah) Zipf and Jennifer (Cameron) Stanton; and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Gladys Weaver, brother Lester Zipf, and son William Zipf.
