Robert Henry Haymes 98, Willard, Mo. passed away Friday, September 1, 2017, in his home. Robert was born on November 12, 1918 in Kansas City, Missouri,to Ola Frederick and Reva Glenn (Turk) Haymes. He was a retired Sergeant Major in the U.S. Army, having served his country in W.W.II, Korea, and Vietnam eras. He was active in the V.F.W. and the Willard Senior Center.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Marvin, his beloved first wife, Vivian “Sweet Baby” and his adored second wife, Rosemary. He is survived by his daughter, Barbara Townsend, Columbia, Mo. three grandchildren: Robert Townsend, Christopher Townsend and his wife Hillary, and Holly Purvis, eight great-grandchildren: Zachary Townsend, Abbygail Townsend, Kaitlynn Townsend, Mason Townsend, Isaiah Townsend, Michael Purvis Jr., Elizabeth Purvis, Andrew Purvis-Stetzel, and two great-great grandchildren: Royce Wells and Auriella Wells,
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, September 7, 2017, in Greenlawn Funeral,Home North, with Rev. Thomas McClain officiating. Burial will follow, in White Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
