Robert P. King, age 89, passed away January 23, 2011 and was born October 28, 1921 in El Paso, Texas to the late James Dubois and Nettie King.
Robert joined the US Army Aircorp in 1940 after college and served until 1945. He was one of the last horse soldiers of the US Cavalry. Robert married Erla Brawner on February 14, 1959. He worked for the US Government at the White Sands Missile Range, N.M. until his retirement.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Erla, of 46 years, his parents and grandsons Lonnie and Ronnie Shawley and nephew Andrew Steinert.
He is survived by his children, Terry Brawner and wife Susie and Shari Boke and husband Roy; three grandchildren Robert and Dwayne Shawley and Darlene Brawner; three great grandchildren Cody, Ronnie and Cayleigh Shawley and a great-great granddaughter Jordan Shawley; and brother Erwin King and wife Alice.
Visitation will be on Thursday, January 27, 2011 from 6:30 to 8:00 PM. The funeral will be Friday, January 28, 2011 at 1:00 PM all at Greenlawn South Funeral Home with burial at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery at a later date.
