Rodney Scott Schellack, age 60, of Springfield, Missouri passed away August 16, 2014. He was born January 14, 1954 in Monett, Missouri to Eugenia Bernice (Scott) and Luckey Carl Schellack and moved to Springfield at the age of one month. He had one brother, Alen Schellack.

Rodney graduated from Glendale High School in 1972 where he was #70 on the football team. He continued his education at Drury College where he received Bachelor’s Degrees in both Business and Economics and was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. He was a career banker and spent 27 years at Commerce Bank. He continued his career at Signature Bank before retiring from OakStar Bank in 2012. He was in the inaugural class of Leadership Springfield and served on the boards of Consumer Credit Counseling and Twin Oaks Country Club. Rodney was a member of Abou Ben Adhem Shrine, Solomon Lodge #271 and was proud to be a Jester.

As a young man, Rodney enjoyed hunting and fishing with his father and his brother and was very fond of the bird dogs he had over the years. He was selected to travel to Sweden with a Rotary Exchange group and thoroughly enjoyed that experience. He loved playing golf and played as much as he could until a shoulder injury inhibited his ability to play. He really enjoyed being a banker and particularly enjoyed the sales role and the service he was able to provide to his many friends and business associates.

Rodney is survived by his mother, Eugenia Schellack of Springfield, Missouri, his aunt, Jackie Gilbert of Kansas City, Missouri, his aunt, Jeanette Cole of Overland Park, Kansas, and his sister-in-law Susan Schellack and former wife Sherry Edmonds both of Springfield. He was preceded in death by his father, Luckey, his brother, Alen, and his aunt Maxine Averill of Olathe, Kansas.

Services will be at 11:00 am, Friday, August 22nd at Greenlawn East Funeral Home. Visitation will be held prior to the service at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Help Give Hope in Springfield, Missouri (helpgivehope.org), local animal shelters or a charity of the donor’s choice.
