Rodney David Lee Walker of Springfield, Missouri, passed from this world only three days into his 64th year of life on July 8, 2023, after a long illness at Springfield Villa. He was born on July 5, 1959, in Springfield, Missouri to Don Walker and Harriett Fisher.
Rodney was a colorful character who faced many challenges head on. He was playful, intelligent, and always made time to enjoy a cold beer-or two- with friends or family. Rodney loved to travel across the country as a long-haul truck driver. No matter the time or distance he was able to reunite with his daughters. Rod would describe himself as “God’s gift to all women,” flirting till the very end.
He was preceded in death by, his parents; sister, Rhonda Lawson; brother’s, Paul Alan Hoffman, and Terry Dean Hoffman; and several aunts and uncles.
Rod is survived by his children and their spouses, David and Amanda Ewing, Kasondra and Randall Moore, Tarra and Michael Melvin, Christopher Walker and Jason Walker; 11 grandchildren and their spouses, Kelsey and Collin, Cameron, Aliyah, Timothy and Neveah, Levi, Sicily, C.J., Josh, Jonah, Reiley, and Sophie; 5 great-grandchildren, Delilah, Kyle, Kashlynn, Remington, and Au’via; a brother, Gerald Keith Hoffman; two sisters and their spouses, Rebekah Blakey and Lois and Darrell Strouse; several nieces and nephews; several cousins, including his closest cousin, Patricia Kates and her partner, Jimmy; his aunt, Lana Goodwin; an uncle and his wife, Tom and Roberta Fisher; other relatives and many friends.
His free spirit and wild nature will be missed.
Rodney’s wishes were to be cremated with no services at this time. “You guys be careful out there, and I mean that.”
