Ronald “Gene” Scroggins was born on October 14, 1942, and he passed away March 11, 2025 at his home. He took on Christ at an early age. He married his high school sweetheart, Carolyn Irene Keltner Scroggins on June 18, 1961 and they enjoyed 60 years of marriage.
Gene enjoyed farming, hunting, fishing, and spending time at the lake. He worked at Dayco and he owned his own construction company for many years. After the loss of his father, he and his family went into dairy farming. After years of Dairy Farming, Gene started working as a laundry/Maintenance Technician. After leaving the laundry, he went to work at Harry Cooper Supply and worked there for 17 years.
Gene is preceded in death by his mother and father, Joe Berry Scroggins and Dortha Mae Thompson Scroggins, as well as the love of his life, Carolyn Irene Scroggins.
Gene is survived by his three sons, Bruce Scroggins and his wife Linda, Sam Scroggins and his wife Patty, and Jeff Scroggins and his wife Kris. Also surviving are his grandsons; Joe, James, and Chase, and 2 granddaughters; Marlee and Rebecca, 4 great-grandchildren; Taylor, Ella, Henry, Sadie Mae, several niece’s and nephew’s, and a host of friends.
Visitation will be at Greenlawn Funeral Home South on Monday, March 17, 2025, 11:00am-1:00pm. Service will be at 1:00pm. Burial will follow at Manley Cemetery in Battlefield.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Fairhaven Children’s Home.
