Ronald William Kilmer of Springfield, MO was called home by our Lord Sunday, April 3, 2022.
Ron was born on December 4, 1947 in Wichita KS and was a Wichita Sate University graduate. He married his high school sweetheart, Stella Marie on March 23, 1968.
He was a devout Catholic, a family man, husband, father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend. He served in the US Navy and was discharged in September 1971.
All who knew Ron knew he was a hot rod enthusiast who had a need for speed. He was a visionary who had a passion and skill for rebuilding cars. Many of his finished projects were featured in various car magazines and in car museums. In high school on any given weekend you could find him and Stella drag racing on Douglas St.in Wichita. Later in life, he spent many hours in his barn dancing to oldies music and working on his cars.
He was a history buff who particularly enjoyed learning about his family. He also enjoyed watching his grandchildren’s sporting events.
An entrepreneur, he put hard work and true dedication into starting Truck Parts and Supply, now in its 38th year.
He was the son of Max and Frances Kilmer.
He is survived by his wife Stella M. Kilmer, a brother, Kevin Kilmer of Indiana and children Ronald Kilmer Jr, Tonya Keeling and Marcus Kilmer (Megan) all of Springfield, MO.
Grandchildren include Courtleigh Kilmer (Tony Suellentrop), Ronald W Kilmer III of Wichita, KS, Alec R. O’Reilly, Averie M. Keeling and Evan M. Kilmer, all of Springfield, MO and Kinsley Kilmer of Boonville, MO.
His family and friends will miss him dearly.
A funeral mass for Ron will be at 9:00 am Friday, April 8, 2022 at St. Joseph Catholic Church 1115 N Campbell Ave, Springfield, MO 65802 under the care of Greenlawn Funeral Home East.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Thursday April 7, 2022 in the funeral home.
