Rosemary J. Barnes, 89 passed away peacefully on June 3, 2024, at home in Springfield, Missouri.
She was born on November 18, 1934, in St Louis, Missouri to Robert E. Jones and Audrey L. (Tyree) Jones. She was raised with one sister, Dolores.
Rosemary later moved to Thayer, Mo where she graduated high school in 1952. She later attended Maple Woods Community College. For a few years she worked for Braniff Airlines where in an exciting event, she was crowned Queen of the Airlines as the Braniff representative. Later, she went into banking where she worked as a branch manager until retirement.
Rosemary was a member of the Church of Christ, where she was very active in the lady’s group and volunteering. She was an active volunteer for CASA as well as Mercy Hospital. Notably, she received numerous awards and recognition for her lifelong record of being a blood and platelets donor for both the American Red Cross and the Community Blood Center of the Ozarks.
Rosemary was blessed with five children, Debbie, Dale, Michael, Christine, and Constance. She had seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She often said that all of her children were the biggest blessing and her greatest joy.
She was married to Harry Barnes for 28 years before he preceded her in death in 2013.
She is survived by her sister, Dolores Walker, her three daughters and their spouses, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Visitation and services will be held at Greenlawn South Funeral Home in Springfield, Missouri (441 W Battlefield Rd, Springfield, MO 65807). Visitation will be on Monday, June 10th from 5-7 PM. Services will be held on Tuesday, June 11th at 11:30 AM followed by a graveside service at Missouri Veterans Cemetery (5201 S Southwood Rd, Springfield, MO 65804) at 1 PM. Following the services there will be a catered reception at the Jackson St. Church of Christ in Willard, Missouri.
