Roy E. Montgomery age 87, of Springfield went to his Heavenly home, Friday, October 6th, 2017 after a long battle with Leukemia.
Roy was born in Webster County to Johnny Jolly and Veda Mae Montgomery. He was a graduate of Marshfield High School. Roy served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a member of Central Christian Church. Roy retired from City Utilities after 37 years as a Meter Reader and Water Treatment Plant Operator. After retirement Roy enjoyed various jobs and activities, gardening, farming, delivering meals on wheels, shuttling friends, church, and the senior center, where he enjoyed playing pool. Most of all Roy loved people and always finding the best in everyone. He always had a smile and a hug to give. Roy never met a stranger.
Survivors include his three daughters, Linda Charles and Husband John, Springfield, Ruth Ann Hough and husband Tom, Rogers, AR, and Jeanne Fox and husband Randy, Willard; five grandchildren; eight grandchildren; one sister, Dora Adams; one brother, John Montgomery; and a host of family and friends. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years, Bonnie Montgomery.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 pm, Sunday, October 8, 2017 at Greenlawn Funeral Home North. Graveside services will be held Monday, October 9, 2017 at 10:00 am in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Springfield, Missouri.Donations can be made to Central Christian Church
