Roy “Jay” Welch, born on December 30, 1964, in Springfield, Missouri, passed away on February 1, 2025, at the age of 60. A steadfast soul who dedicated his life to supporting his family, Jay will be remembered for his unwavering work ethic and deep love for his loved ones.
Raised in and a lifelong resident of Bolivar, MO, Jay earned his high school diploma from Bolivar High School and embarked on a career as a production worker for Kraft-Heinz for over 31 years. His commitment to his work reflected his dedication to providing for his family, particularly for his beloved daughter, Sarah Welch, who was a bright light in his life.
Jay liked hunting, hanging out at the café on Saturday mornings with his friends, and loved being with his grandchildren.
Jay was preceded in death by his parents Roy James and Jaunita Carol (Miller) Welch.
Jay is survived by his daughter, Sarah Welch and her significant other Kaden Church; two grandchildren: Zaid and Zaylee Church all of Bolivar, MO; his siblings, brother Stephen Welch and wife Regina of Springfield, MO, sisters: Karen Carns and husband Chuck, and Kim Spinabella all of Bolivar, MO; as well as many other relatives and friends who will carry on his memory and spirit. As a father, brother, uncle, and friend, his warmth and kindness left an indelible mark on those who knew him best.
In honor of Jay’s life, cremation was arranged. A celebration of his life will be held at the Bolivar Masonic Lodge on Saturday, February 15, 2025, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., where family and friends will gather to share stories, laughter, and love—reflecting the joy he brought into their lives.
