Roy (RC) Long , age 78, of Springfield, MO, passed away Sunday, May 1, 2016 at Mercy Hospital. He was born December 22, 1937, in Beacon, IA, to Berle and Dena (Keegel) Long. Although RC faced the recent difficult diagnosis of Multiple Myeloma, he remained positive and courageous. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. His lifelong passion was selling and restoring classic cars. He also enjoyed drag racing and fishing. RC loved life and he lived life to the fullest, with great passion for those who were less fortunate. RC was one of a kind, he made a huge impression on so many people, he will be greatly missed by all those whose paths he crossed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his daughter; Tami D. Long. He is survived by his wife Donna Kay Long, daughters; Deb Davis, (Brian), Knoxville, IA. Kathy Milliken, (Mike) Ankeny, IA, his son; Bradley B. Long, (Sigrid) Huntertown, IN a sister; Charlotte Rhoades, (Dale), Nashville, TN. his 10 grandchildren and his special pet friends; Binger, Betsy and Luther.
A Memorial for RC will be held on Wednesday evening, May 4, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the family residence. Memorial contributions may be made to the Greene County Humane Society or to the St. Jude’s Childrens’ Hospital. Services have been entrusted to Greenlawn Funeral Home North, Springfield, MO.
