Ruby Olivia Haney, age 86, of Springfield, MO, passed away Friday, June 27, 2014 at Cox Medical Center South. She was born October 5, 1927, in Niangua, MO, to Francis and Ethel (Snow) Letterman. Ruby was a benevolent person helping family and strangers any time that she could. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, and homemaking; she liked to go to the Doling Senior Center, and to flea markets. She will be remembered for her big heart, always trying to help someone down on their luck.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Henry Haney; her parents, Francis and Ethel Letterman; three brothers Clyde Letterman, Calvin Letterman and Gene Letterman; and one sister, Eula Faulkner. She is survived by her four children, Linda Collins, West Plains, MO; John Michael Haney, Springfield, MO; Guy Neal Haney, Hannibal, MO; and Jim L. Haney, Kimberling City, MO; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Maggard of Springfield and Lula Fillmer of Springfield; and a host of family and friends.
A celebration of Ruby’s life will be held at 3:00 p.m., Monday, June 30, 2014, at Greenlawn Funeral Home North, Springfield, MO with Pastor Terry Klier officiating. Burial will be held in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 2-3 p.m. on Monday, June 30, 2014 at Greenlawn Funeral Home North. Memorial contributions may be made to Victory Mission. Services have been entrusted to Greenlawn Funeral Home North, Springfield, MO.
