Russell Harber was born April 16, 1934 near Viola, Arkansas to Earl and Bertha Stephens Harber. He entered eternal rest on November 3, 2023 in his home in Battlefield, Missouri.
He attended Viola schools graduating with the class of 1952. On June 24, 1956 he was married to Lois Helen Pendergrass at the Church of Christ in Bakersfield, Missouri. They were blessed with a daughter, Lenetta Jan.
Russell was a faithful member of the Church of Christ from his youth and was currently attending the Water Mill Congregation.
Upon returning from a tour of duty with the Army in Korea from 1956 to 1958, he began working at Dayco Rubber Company in Springfield. He was employed there 25+ years before being employed by Springfield Public Schools working in the maintenance department.
Russell was a quiet man with a big heart. His prayer in life was that every member of his family would accept John 3:16 and prepare for life in heaven.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and their husbands,
Rosemary and Kenneth Cotter and Jacquita and Bob Newberry and one brother David and wife Rosetta: an infant brother James, niece Leila Harber and nephew Roger Newberry, and sister-in-law: Peggy Davidson
Russell will be lovingly remembered by his wife Helen, daughter Jan and husband Tim Bowling, grandson Kenneth Robert Bowling, and great grandchildren Arya, Heath, and Ethan Bowling. He was “Uncle Russell” to his nieces and nephews, Gail, Carol, Joey, Anita, Diana, and David, brothers and sisters in-law: June and Joe Campbell, R.A. and Connie Pendergrass, and Larry and Carol Pendergrass, Joy and Dan Holloway, Rick and Janet Davidson, Cathy and Jackie Baird, along with several nieces and nephews.
A special thanks to the staff of Integrity Hospice for their loving care and concerns that allowed Russell to live- and die peacefully in his home.
