Samuel Eugene Beard Jr., age 77, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away on January 19, 2026, in his home. Sam was born to Samuel Beard and Edna Beard on May 1, 1948 in Springfield, MO. Sam attended Hillcrest High School and Drury University in Springfield, Missouri. He proudly served in the United States Army before his honorable discharge.
Sam spent his career successfully working in the mortgage finance industry. He worked for several large companies and then owned his own business, First Security Mortgage in Kansas City, KS. Sam loved his family. He cared for his mother in her later years and absolutely adored his three grandchildren. He was known by others for his fun loving personality, ability to always remain positive no matter the circumstance, and his trademark laugh. Everyone loved to be around Sam.
Samuel was preceded in death by his father, Samuel Beard; mother, Edna Beard. He is survived by his son Ryan Beard; grandson Henry Beard; grandson Nathan Beard; granddaughter Emily Beard.
A commital service for Samuel will be held at Missouri Veterans Cemetery, at a later date.
