Samuel Eugene Coryell, age 82, Springfield, Missouri passed away peacefully with his family by his side January 12, 2026 in Springfield, Missouri.
Sam was born on October 2, 1943 in Paducah, Kentucky to Morrison and Oma (Riley) Coryell.
Sam was the first in his family to go to college. He received a Bachelor of Music Education from Murray State University in 1965, a Master of Music from North Texas State University in 1966 and a Doctor of Musical Arts from Colorado University in 1976. After 20 years of teaching in higher education he moved his family to Springfield, MO to teach music at Evangel University. It is here that he found his second career in real estate. In 1988 he co-founded TLC Properties and purchased some rental houses. By 1996 the business had grown to the point that he decided to retire from teaching and devote all his time to growing his real estate holdings. TLC Properties is now 38 years old and one of the largest multifamily real estate companies in southwest Missouri.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Morrison and Oma Coryell; siblings, Anita Adams, Brenda Scott, and Eddy Coryell.
Sam is survived by his wife, Connie; sons, Sam M. (Jennifer) Coryell, Daniel (Laura) Coryell, and David (Tiffany) Coryell; grandchildren, Samuel Martin (Brooke) Coryell, Lydia Coryell, Ashlyn Coryell, Brigden Coryell, Livianah Coryell, Hadleigh Coryell and Elleanor Coryell.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 PM, Monday, January 19, 2026 in Greenlawn Funeral Home East. Services will be at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, January 20, 2026 at James River Church, Ozark, MO with a private family burial to be held later.
