Sandra Lee Sorbo, born October 24, 1943 passed away on April 17, 2012 at Cox South due to advanced MS at the age of 68. Sandra was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Phyllis Sorbo, an infant brother, and brother-in-law, Earl Stubbs.
Sandra had her primary and secondary education in India. She graduated from Missouri State in 1966 with a Bachelor of Science in Education. In 1968 she received her Master in Education in physical education from the University of Missouri.
Sandra taught in the Physical Education Department at Evangel University from 1965 through 2000. She was the department chair from 1983-1999. She was named Professor Emeritus in the Spring of 2000. She introduced women’s athletics at Evangel and served as coodinator until 1983.
Sandra was a member of Central Assembly of God Church in Springfield.
She is survived by two sisters, Arlene Stubbs of Hyderabad, India, and Kay (Rich) Oliver of Reese, MI; four nieces and nephews, Valerie (Michael) Sharp and Rick (Cathy) Oliver of Springfield, MO, Sharilyn (Jeff) McClaflin of Lee’s Summit, MO, and Matt (Natalie) Oliver of Campbellsville, KY; and five great nieces and nephews.
Memorial visitation for Sandra will be held at Greenlawn North on Wednesday, April 18th from 5 pm to 7 pm. The funeral will be held at Central Assembly of God on Thursday, April 19 at 2 pm with burial at Greenlawn North. Memorials can be given to the Assemblies of God World Missions for the account of Arlene Stubbs.
