Scott Allen Hamilton, 41, of Springfield, MO, went to Heaven on March 15, 2024, after a battle with cancer. He was born in Fort Morgan, Colorado, on October 2, 1982, to Kirby Hamilton and Barbara (Hamilton) Thompson.
Scott graduated from Parkview High School in May of 2002 and he joined the US Marine Corps, where he served 15 years of service. He was deployed to Iraq twice, serving in Iraqi Freedom. His love for the Marines began when he was a young boy. On his own he sent off for information about Missouri Military Academy and talked his parents into enrolling him his sixth-grade year. He attended the academy from 1994-2000. Scott’s military career began as a diesel mechanic; aircraft rescue and firefighter; canvassing recruiter (awarded top recruiter in 2011); and in charge of Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point Corporal Leadership Course, Training Support Department, Operations Directorate. He retired as a Gunnery Sergeant. Scott received several medals and awards for his initiative, perseverance, total dedication, sacrifice, inspiration to fellow marines to better themselves, and a deep sense of commitment to the mission. It was noted, “His impact will be felt for years to come.” Scott had a positive outlook on any situation.
Upon his military retirement, he attended college, and was on the Alumni Board of Directors at Missouri Military Academy.
On December 31, 2021, he married Carol Lynn Darter in Springfield, MO. Scott loved his family and his wife Carol very much. His family and his wife embrace the spirit of Scott in their hearts, and he will be greatly missed. They have so many cherished and wonderful memories.
He had a great appreciation of history. His hobbies were collecting vintage magazines, antiques, and watching sports. He never missed a Notre Dame football game.
Scott is preceded in death by his Father, Kirby Hamilton; Paternal Grandparents, Leon N. and Wanda Rae Hamilton; and Maternal Grandparents, Joseph Cipriano, Sr., and Juliana B. Duran; several Uncles, Aunts, and Cousins.
Survivors include his Wife, Carol Hamilton; Stepfather, William Thompson; Mother, Barbara Thompson; Brother, Joshua Hamilton; Stepbrothers, James (Christina) Thompson, Joshua (Kariann) Thompson, Justin (Brittany) Thompson; Stepsister, Jennifer (Chris) Baumhoer; several Uncles and Aunts, of which include, Ben & Anne Hamilton, Paul & Gloria Vowell, Joe, Jr. & Deb Duran, Larry & Renee Duran, Debbie & Manuel Ortiz, and Tom Duran. Scott had several nieces, nephews, and cousins who have fun childhood memories, and they will miss him dearly. He also had a wide circle of friends; namely-Missouri Military Academy fellow Cadets, Marine buddies, and Fisher House staff.
Services will be held at Evangel Temple Church, 2020 E Battlefield Road, Springfield, MO 65804, Friday, March 22, 2024, at 11 AM. A graveside Military salute will follow at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, 5201 S Southwood Road, Springfield, MO 65804, at 1 PM.
