Sharon Kay Lynch, age 79, of Springfield, passed away on April 16, 2023, alongside her family. Sharon was born to Raymond Brooks and Mildred Kidd on February 15, 1944, in Springfield, Missouri. She was raised in Springfield and graduated from Hillcrest High School in 1962. During her time at Hillcrest, Sharon was the majorette for the Highlander Drum Corp. Sharon was united in marriage to Frank Lynch on October 23, 1962, in Harrison, Arkansas. Sharon shared 60 years of marriage before her passing on April 16, 2023. The couple were blessed with two children, Lisa Todd of Springfield, Missouri and Ryan Lynch of Portland, Oregon.
Sharon was employed with Consumers Markets for over 30 years, serving in several roles within the organization. After her time at Consumers Markets, Sharon worked at the Hulston Cancer Center to provide support and care for those going through breast cancer treatment. She also worked as an administrator at Cox North hospital. Sharon had been an active member at Dale Street (Pathways) United Methodist Church. She also had many interests and pastimes including gardening, crafting, volunteering at the Price Cutter Charity Championship and Meals on Wheels. Nothing, however, provided more fulfillment than spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, who loving referred to Sharon as “Nanny”. Sharon will be remembered as a most caring and thoughtful friend, mother and grandmother. Her kindness and willingness to help others were the standout qualities that defined Sharon for those who made her acquaintance.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Betty Jean O’Brien; sister, Rae Ann Kindell; and sister, Shirley Brooks. She is survived by her husband, Frank; daughter, Lisa and husband Jeff; son, Ryan; granddaughters, Ashley, Stephanie, and Haley; and 5 great grandchildren, Alexis, Madison, Kaden, Makenna, and Emmie.
A visitation for Sharon Kay Lynch will be held on Thursday, June 1, 2023, from 6:00-8:00 pm, at Greenlawn Funeral Home North. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made in Sharon’s memory to the Humane Society of Southwest Missouri or the Breast Cancer Foundation of the Ozarks.
