Sharon Hunt, 73, of Springfield, passed away at sunset on Saturday, March 8th surrounded by her husband and children. She was born to Gene & Mary Thomas on July 26th, 1951. Sharon was raised in Ponca City, Oklahoma, where she graduated from high school in 1969. She then moved to Springfield, Missouri to attend Evangel College, graduating with a degree in education. During this time, she met the love of her life, Ken, and the two were married on June 2nd, 1973. The couple were then blessed with two children, Ryan, in 1976, and Heather, in 1978.
Sharon was employed as a 3rd grade teacher with Springfield Public Schools. She taught for nearly 30 years and touched countless lives. She loved teaching because she loved children. Ken built homes early in their marriage and then went to work for the Assemblies of God in 1987. Toward the end of both of their careers, they pastored for 13 years until Ken’s retirement in 2014. Nothing brought Sharon more joy than her relationship with Jesus Christ, her family, and later, her grandchildren. She served everyone with a genuine heart of love. Even in her husband’s illness, she cared for him until she could no longer do so. Sharon shared her parents unique gift of hospitality and loved to celebrate every holiday and occasion. She was understanding, wise, compassionate, lighthearted, a prayer warrior, and truly the same individual on the outside as on the inside.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gene & Mary Thomas. She is survived by her devoted husband Ken Hunt, brother Robert Thomas and wife, Angie. Her son Ryan Hunt and wife Tracy. Daughter Heather Parisse, and husband Telly. Her four grandchildren, Nicholas, Leah and Kyle Parisse, Siearra Wilder, and husband Telacey. Great grandchildren, My’Leena, Telacey III, Azarah Wilder, and a multitude of extended family.
