Sheryl Joy Morris was a devout Christian, loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She departed this earthly life to be with her Lord and Savior on December 24, 2022, at the age of 78.
Sheryl was born to Henry and Martha Gerhart in Sibley, IA on May 8, 1944. After graduating from Strafford High School, she married twice and had four children. Her warm heart and compassion led her to a career as a Licensed Practical Nurse, working for Mercy Hospital, Smith Glynn Callaway Clinic and Developmental Center of the Ozarks Adult Daycare.
In addition to her parents, Sheryl was predeceased by her daughter, Tiffany Hawkins and her sister, Marilyn Ion. She is survived by three children, Tammy Hawkins, Tracy Barnas, Keith Morris, five grandchildren, Ryan & Lacy Lynch, Lauren & Blake Barnas, Cooper Hawkins; and eight great-grandchildren who affectionately called her MeMa or MeMe. Sheryl is also survived by siblings Henry, Gary, Randy, Greg & Debbie Gerhart, and Linda Yarbrough, many loving family members and friends who will miss Sheryl’s smile, laughter, and loving spirit.
A long-time member of South Haven Baptist Church, Sheryl instilled faith and a strong love of Christ in her children and those around her. As a mother, sister, and nurse, she was generous, loving, and kind. Her creativity as a talented tole painter, the folk art of decorative painting on tin & wood, brought her hours of enjoyment and left her family many pieces that will forever be treasured. She loved to travel and frequently enjoyed trips to Branson and Springfield area to craft festivals. Sheryl’s middle name Joy not only represented the happiness she brought to others, but also the deep love she had for her children and grandchildren who will always strive to honor a legacy as her Pride & Joy.
Visitation for Sheryl will be held from 1-3 on Thursday, December 29th, 2022 at Greenlawn Funeral Home South followed by a funeral service at 3:00. Her family asks that if you are so moved, to please make donations to Developmental Center of the Ozarks (DCO) in her honor.
