It is with heavy hearts and profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Shirley Ann Davis, a beloved wife, mother, daughter, and respected member of the Willard community. Shirley was born on September 18, 1938, in Springfield, Missouri, and peacefully departed from this world on August 10, 2024, at Mercy Hospital, Springfield, Mo. at the age of 85.
Throughout her life, Shirley dedicated herself to serving the community as a School Bus Driver for 18 years, in the public school system of Willard, Missouri. Her commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of the children she transported was unwavering, earning her the respect and gratitude of all who knew her.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary (Walker) Taylor, her brother: William Taylor, and her sister-in-law: Billie Taylor. Shirley leaves behind her loving husband of 64 years, Jimmy Davis Sr. and her two sons, Jimmy Davis Jr. and his wife, Marti, and Jackie Davis and his wife, Darla, one grand-daughter: Allison Dietrich, and her husband, Brad. She is also survived by her great grandson: Parker Dietrich, and her two great-grand daughters: Emma and Charlotte Dietrich, her brother: John Taylor and her sister-in-law: Deanna Taylor and a host of nieces and other family and friends.
A funeral service to honor the life and legacy of Shirley Ann Davis will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 17, at the Greenlawn Funeral Home North, with burial to follow, in Brookline cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before services, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. The family asks that Memorial Donations be made in Shirleys memory to the St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital.
Shirley’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her. May she rest in eternal peace, and may her spirit continue to inspire all those who were fortunate enough to be touched by her presence. Arrangements are under the loving care of Greenlawn Funeral Home North.
