Sterling Edwin Browning II was born on August 27, 1933 in Ardmore, Oklahoma, to Sterling and Viola Browning. He had one sister, Nancy. About 1945 when he was 12 years old, the family moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma.
In 1962, Sterling and Merlene met and married. In 1963, Sterling took a position at Fisher Scientific and they moved to St. Louis. In 1963, Melissa Anne was born. After working at Fisher for a couple of years, Sterling decided to complete his degree, so the family returned to Oklahoma, in 1965 so he could attend OSU in Stillwater. In 1967 he graduated from OSU with a degree in chemistry, and applied for a position as a chemist, and was hired by Sigma Chemical Company in St. Louis, as an analytical chemist. In 1968, Sterling Edwin. III was born, and in 1971, Jonathan Brian was born.
After living in St. Louis for about 30 years, the Browning's had an opportunity to relocate to San Antonio, Texas. They lived there for 14 years, and moved to Springfield, Missouri in 2006, and became members of Christ the King Church in 2007. The couple has five grandchildren; Jeremy, Timothy and Elizabeth, born to, Eric and Melissa Sauder; and Logan and Natalie, born to Sterling Edwin Browning III.,
Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 3, 2017, in Christ The King Church, 2537 North Broadway Avenue, Springfield, Mo. Burial will follow, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Tuesday, from 6 :00 to 8:00 p.m. in Greenlawn Funeral Home North.
