Sue Arnall, 74, Springfield, MO, was born Nov. 15, 1939, in Springfield to Bill and Jeanette (Parker) Housley. She died at 1:30 AM, Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at the Arbors at Ravenwood Assisted Care community. Growing up, Sue moved around a lot and attended schools in MO and CA. She graduated from Central High School in 1958 and later that same year she married Richard Arnall. After they married, she attended Missouri State University while Richard served in the US Navy. After she graduated and Richard was honorably discharged from the military, the couple moved near Columbia, MO, where Sue taught at Murray, a one-room school house. When Richard began working for IBM, the couple moved to Poughkeepsie, NY, for a year before eventually returning to Springfield.
Sue raised three children and spent her career teaching sixth grade at Hickory Hills, Bissett, Wanda Gray, and Cherokee schools before finally retiring. She trusted Jesus as her Savior while attending College Street Baptist Church when she was in high school. Later, she attended Glenstone Baptist Church with her family. There, she worked as one of the teachers for the college class and every summer she’d either work as the VBS Director or one of the teachers. When the family moved north of town, they joined Pleasant Home Baptist Church. She served in numerous roles, but was especially fond of teaching a women’s Sunday morning Bible class. Most recently, Sue was an active member of Second Baptist Church.
She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and traveling. During her lifetime, she made it to forty-nine of the fifty states. She was a great hostess and cook, and loved having company.
Throughout her lifetime, Sue exemplified the love of Christ by putting others first. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Arnall; her parents, Bill and Jeanette Housley; her in-laws, Frank and Anna Arnall; sisters-in-law, Betty Arnall, Mary Arnall, and Wanda Housley; brothers-in-law, Leroy, Clarence, Eldrege, Chester, and Robert Arnall; and a nephew, Rilen Spellman.
