Tamara Dee (Mares) Wood, 52, of Pleasant Hope MO passed away peacefully at home, June 4, 2019 after a long illness. Tammy was born to Kipp and Margie Mares, March 19, 1967 in South Gate California, where she lived for several years before moving to Missouri. She worked for several years as a bookkeeper for Milky Way Transport and later as a dispatcher for Polk County 911. A volunteer responder with Pleasant Hope Fire Protection District for the last 19 years, she served several years as the District Secretary/Treasurer and as an EMT for the past 17 years. She loved to help those in her community and was known for never meeting a stranger, being over punctual, and her red hair. She will be greatly missed within the Pleasant Hope community.
She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Greg Wood; her son Greg Wood II (Ashlee), daughter, Megan Wood, grandchildren DJ, Tawnee and Tanner Wood and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her brother Lonnie Mares, granny Thelma Biller, aunt Thelma Campbell, father-in-law Daryl Wood and her beloved dog, Peanut.
Visitation will be held 2 to 4 pm, Friday, June 7, at Pitts Chapel in Bolivar Missouri, followed by a Memorial Service at 4. Burial will be in Pleasant Hope Cemetery at a later date.
