Valorie June Sterling age 36 of St. Charles, Missouri was born in Rockledge, Florida in December of 1986 to parents Jack Carson and Cheryl Hall.
Throughout her young life Valorie traveled and lived in many places. It was likely these experiences that fueled her life-long love of travel and moving. Throughout most of her school-age years, she attended Bismarck School in Bismarck, AR. It was there she met some of her closest friends.
Valorie was the baby and feistiest of four. She is most remembered by her siblings and parents for THAT fierce personality. In any family gathering, conversations gravitate to stories of Valorie’s fiery approach to life. Like the time she was 2 or 3 years old and got lost in a store from her father and when he found her, she had her hands on her hip and was demanding to know where he had been and informed him she had been looking everywhere for him. Or the time the store clerk at Sam’s told her oldest sister that she could not exchange her Christmas gift for a different size without a receipt. After Valorie’s intervention, Heather walked out of that store with the correct size pajama pants. Or the time that her brother was told he could not purchase cigarettes because his driver’s license recently expired. Since Valorie was a force to be reckoned with, Tommy left that gas station with cigarettes. Valorie was passionate and protective about her family and you had better not mess with them. She was the only one allowed to take them out.
Valorie was full of love, life, looks and laughter. This passion and love did not stop with her family. She extended this same fervor to everything in all areas. She gave 100% to her job, friends, and family. Valorie believed if it was worth doing it was worth doing with excellence. She gave all of herself to those she loved and cared for and made it her priority to help people and make a difference wherever she went.
Valorie was an ardent fan of all things water. She was queen of organizing float trips and it took her brother, Tommy, several float trips to realize that it was “Valorie’s way or the highway”. Most recently she enjoyed taking people out on the lake in their boat. She loved to do and go and enjoyed hosting family get-togethers.
Valorie met her soulmate and love of her life, Cory, in 2004 at a KFC in Springfield, Missouri. They would both tell you that they were too much alike to ever make a relationship work; despite all odds and against what makes sense to most, they built a beautiful life. They were blessed with a tribe of friends that turned to family, starting with those KFC coworkers. After many years of living together and much anticipation from loved ones they were married in June of 2013 in Springfield, MO. Valorie and Cory complimented and challenged each other perfectly. Their love and dedication to each other was often viewed as an aspiration for those around them. Valorie and Cory grew their family by bringing a wonderful son into the family in 2015 and bringing a long awaited blessing into this world in November of 2016. Being a mommy to Lori Olivia and Josh was Valorie’s greatest accomplishment and joy in life.
Valorie is predeceased by both sets of her grandparents; John and June Carson and Gwendolyn and Thomas Creviston, her Uncles Ty Creviston and Mike Barrett, step-sister, Brittany Stickney and brother-in-law, Brent Cole.
