Vanita “Sue” Scharnhorst, 69, departed this world to be with her Lord in Heaven on January 24, 2013 after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer.
Sue was born on January 19, 1944 in Springfield, MO to her parents, Ernest and Grace “Billie” Ward, who preceded her in death along with her oldest sister, Melba Dempster.
Sue worked at Consumer Markets for 20 years and later managed the floor covering business she owned with her husband, Larry.
She will always be remembered for her beautiful blue eyes, loving heart, willingness to always put others ahead of herself and her incredible work ethic. Her greatest joy was spoiling her grandchildren and making sure everyone around her was comfortable, and of course NASCAR-“Go Dale, Jr.” She will also be remembered for her beauty both inside and out.
Sue is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Larry Scharnhorst; her two daughters and their husbands, Andrea and Todd Roblin and Sherry and Daron Benson; three grandchildren, Zachary, Zane and Reagan; her two brothers, William “Bill” Ward and Robert “Bobby” Ward; and her two sisters, Florence Collins and Madeline Brewer.
Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Monday, January 28, 2013 in Greenlawn Funeral Home North. Online condolences can be made at www.greenlawnfuneralhome.com.
Though her smile is gone forever
and her hand I cannot touch
I still have so many memories
Of the one I loved so much.
Her memory is now my keepsake
Which with I’ll never part.
God has her in his keeping
I have her in my heart.
Sadly missed but never forgotten
“We love you Mom more than you could have ever known, we will miss you always.”
Andrea and Sherry
