Velma Victoria Brown, 93 of Bolivar, MO, went home to the Lord, Saturday, July 25, 2009. She was a resident of Parkview Healthcare Facility. She was born February 8, 1916, to William and Ara Belle (Box) Carter in Aldrich, MO. She was a lifelong member of the Slagle Missionary Baptist Church. She was married to Ray W. Brown on June 11, 1935; to this union six children were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; seven brothers and sisters: Erma Waldner, Synai Thomson, Eva Sanders all of Kansas City, Richard (Dick) Walker of Morrisville, Elbert Carter of Bolivar, Floris Pierce of Brighton, and Gene Carter of Springfield; one daughter Eva Edith; and one grandson Darin Cribbs.
She is survived by her children: Ray Gene Brown and wife Sue, John Brown and wife Connie of Bolivar, Ronnie Brown and wife Donna of Waco, TX, Pat Smith and husband Bob and Vicki Cribbs and husband Dwain of Springfield; ten grandchildren; Greg Brown, Leisa Brown, Jim Brown, Penny Grant, Dwain Cribbs, Jr., Melissa Brown, Charlie Brown, Jeannie Towell, Bobby Smith, and Sharon Felton; eight great grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM (Today) Wednesday, July 29, 2009, in Pitts Chapel with Bro. Herman Coffey officiating. Burial will follow in the Slagle Cemetery. Musical selections of “I Saw The Light”, “In The Sweet By And By”, and “Amazing Grace”, will be offered by the Krtek Sisters. Pallbearers will be Greg Brown, Jim Brown, Dwain Cribbs, Jr., Bobby Smith, Todd Grant, and Brock Grant. Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 28, 2009, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM in the funeral home.
