Vernice Black, age 93 of Bolivar, MO, passed away Monday, July 17, 2017, in his home. He was born June 13, 1924, at Goodson, MO, to Mirl J. and Catherine (Breshears) Black. He was a member of the Teamsters Local Union #245, and the Lindley Creek Missionary Baptist Church Goodson, MO.
He is preceded in death by his parents; four brothers: infant Franklin, Eldridge, Don, and George Black; and a twin-sister Bernice Esther.
He is survived by his wife Shirley of the home; one son Jarrett Black and wife Suzanne of Louisburg, MO; four step-daughters: Carol Stevens and husband Jerry of Hilo, HI, Judy Doyen and husband Patrick of Cuba, MO, Patti Timmons and husband Truman of Union, MO, and Kate Mullen of Hilo, HI; nine grandchildren: Kelly, Steve, Audrey, Andrea, John, Paul, Ian, Matt, and Brian; five great grandchildren: Sydnie, Adam, Cheyanne, Bailey, and Lane; as well as many other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held Thursday, July 20, 2017, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Pitts Chapel Bolivar, MO. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, July 21, 2017, at the funeral home with Bro.’s Jeff Shelenhamer, Jerry Crain, and Jamie Erven officiating. Burial will follow at Lindley Creek Cemetery Goodson, MO.
