Virgie Elizabeth Roberts, 56 of Bolivar, MO, peacefully and unexpectedly passed away at her home August 9, 2023. Liz was born February 22, 1967, to Treva Mae (Kates) and Carl S. Roberts who precede her in death. She was born during a snowstorm in Chicago, IL. They barely made it out of the cab and into the hospital before she arrived.
Liz graduated from Bolivar High School in 1985. She then went on to graduate from SMSU (MSU now) with a Hospitality Management degree. She had worked in many restaurants and hotels in Springfield over the years. Her last home was being Manager at Pizza Hut in Bolivar where she was able to shine brightly and earned many awards. Most recently brought the location to the 158th nationally. She was quick to say she got here through her hard work, but also through the hard work of her staff, who were also her family.
Liz knew no strangers, always had a helping hand for everyone. She had such a huge smile, infectious laughter. When you were with her, you felt loved and cared for.
Liz loved her plants, animals, and cooking. She dearly loved her many friends and family. Most of all, she loved the Lord. Liz was saved at Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church when she was 16 years old. Both her and her sister were saved during a revival and baptized together.
Liz is survived by her three children: Doug Roberts, Corey Sarnstrom both of Bolivar, MO, and Shelby Roberts of Republic, MO; two grandchildren: Logan and Olivia Roberts; her fiancée John Dunn of Bolivar, MO; her sister Carlean Ernster (Lewis) of Buffalo, MO; her brother Walter Orrell of Bolivar, MO; an uncle Danny Kates (Cherie) of Bolivar, MO; her best friend Teresa Barry of Bolivar, MO; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 16, 2023, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Pitts Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, August 17, 2023, in the funeral home.
