Virginia (Graves) Murphy passed away peacefully on July 2, 2014 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, MO following a long illness. She was born on July 25, 1934 to Ed and Lena Black in Morrisville, MO.
Virginia was preceded in death by her two daughters Roxanna Lackey and Yvonne Graves.
She is survived by her husband of 14 years Howard Murphy of Springfield, brother Harley Black and wife Janetta of Lockeford CO.; sister Winnifred Shelton of Springfield; sister Doris Cowdrey of Springfield; sister Margarette Hoven and husband Bill of Grand Bay AL.; and sister Carol Barbee and husband Wes of Cape Fair MO.
She is also survived by her son Buddy Graves and wife Linda of Sacramento CA.; son Audie Graves of Springfield; step-daughter Roberta Murphy of Springfield, step-daughter Rebecca Morris and husband Robert of Burleson TX.; step-son Ron Murphy and wife Debi of Springfield; 11 grand-children; and several great grand-children.
Virginia was a loving wife, sister, and mother who had a passion for life. Her strong Christian faith and positive attitude was an inspiration to all her knew her. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts. Funeral Services will be held Monday, July 7, 2014 at Greenlawn Funeral Home North, Springfield, Mo. Burial to follow service at Slagle Cemetery near Bolivar, Mo. Visitation will be held 6-8:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home.
