Vyrl came to Pittsburg KS as our pastor in the summer before my senior year in high school. I worked in the church office part-time while I was in college. At that time, Vyrl was into printing, brought his own printing press with him, and set up a mini print shop in the church, where we prepared “The Seed and the Sower”, a newsletter we sent out every week. Under his ministry, our church grew to the point that every room in the building, except the sanctuary, was in use for Sunday School classes. He baptized me, and also took part in my wedding. I loved him and his family, loved working for him, learned so many job skills from him, was sorry to see him leave Pittsburg, and even sorrier to hear of his passing.

So sorry to hear of Vyrl's passing. Thankful for all the years Bill served on the board under Vyrl's leadership. Thankful for his vision starting Bethel Life School and the purchase of the property on South Meridian. God bless the family.

We both have loved Pastor Pember since Bethel A/G 1971, a miracle happened in are lives after he prayed for us to have a child. God answered prayer a year later, a son, Rich. Thank you Lord. ????????
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

Stan Smith left a message on August 19, 2023:
Vyrl became my pastor when I was only 11 years old. His ministry helped bring me to Christ two years later and he baptized me. Fifty years later, we reconnected here in Springfield and have continued a wonderful friendship since. He was a blessing to know and be around but I would also add that he was divinely blessed, not just with the talents God gave him, but also with a strong and devoted wife and family. Vyrl loved music and he loved God's Word, both of which he used skillfully in sharing the Gospel. Those of us who knew him now have another reason to press on in our walk toward Heaven and that great reunion of family and friends, joining with our Savior in the home He has prepared for us. Yes, many of us will be there because of Vyrl and his obedience to his Lord.
Wendy Mesimer left a message on August 18, 2023:
Vyril was such a good soul. I will miss his phone calls and text. He would always be there when you needed him. He will be greatly missed. Heaven is lucky to have him and I was lucky to have called him my friend. I love you Vyril and I thank you for all of your prayers you prayed for me. Love always, Wendy Mesimer
Brandi Hatley left a message on August 17, 2023:
Vyrl was more a father to me than my own; he was my friend, my mentor. I will miss him and our weekly talks greatly. My love and prayers are being sent to Susan and the family.
