Walter B. Stansbury, age 85, of Springfield, MO, passed away Monday, March 19, 2012 in his home with his family by his side. He was born June 22, 1926, in South Bend, IN, to Walter and Marie (Hoffman) Stansbury. He was a member of Hillcrest Presbyterian Church and St. Joseph Masonic Lodge # 45, where he was a fifty-year member. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He earned an Associates Degree in Engineering from De Forest Institute. Walter worked as the chief engineer at KOLR 10 and later worked as an engineer for KSPR. Walter was active in the Garden Railroad Society and he enjoyed woodworking.
He was preceded in death by parents Walter and Marie ( Hoffman) Stansbury and sister Patricia Seiser.
He is survived by his wife Fran Stansbury, Springfield, MO;seven children, Jeri Oravec and Joseph of Apache Junction,AZ, James Stansbury, Cyndi Stansbury, Scott Stansbury, Nancy Harmon and Bob, Jeffrey Johnmeyer, all of Springfield, and Jana Johnmeyer of Fordland; eleven grandchildren; five great – grandchildren; and one brother, Robert Stansbury of Surprise, AZ.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 22, 2012 at Hillcrest Presbyterian Church with Rev. Kent Hollingsworth officiating.
