Wayne F. Mullins, born on October 6, 1929, in Riverside, California and peacefully passed away on February 16, 2025, in Mt. Vernon, Missouri. He was surrounded by his loving children, Keith and Kimberly, as he transitioned to eternal rest.
As a child, Wayne contracted tuberculosis but experienced a miraculous healing that inspired him to dedicate his life to serving God through missions. He graduated from high school in Coachella, California, in 1947 and pursued his passion for missions, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Theology from Southern California College in Costa Mesa in 1952, followed by a Master of Divinity degree from Saint Petersburg Bible Institute, St. Petersburg, Florida, in 1960.
In 1955, Wayne married Mary Emma Wilks and began his ministry by pioneering a church in Grand Island, Nebraska, where their first son, Ken, was born. The family later moved to St. Petersburg, Florida, where they welcomed their second son, Keith (who was born in California while Mary Emma visited her mother). They then relocated to Macon, Georgia, where Wayne pastored a church for six years.
In 1966, they moved to Fairbanks, Alaska, where he pastored a church, for a year before Wayne was offered a missionary position in Vietnam. Just before accepting that role, he received an opportunity to serve in the Philippines, which he eagerly embraced. His deep commitment to his calling led him to serve as a missionary in the Philippines starting in 1968. In 1970, their family grew with the birth of Kimberly. In 2000, he felt called to Indonesia, where he continued his mission work until his health prevented him from traveling overseas. He served as the Asia area supervisor overseeing over 600 churches and several Bible Colleges. His life’s work touched countless souls and inspired many through his unwavering dedication to spreading the good news.
Wayne is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Emma, and his parents, Hubert and Elizabeth Mullins. He is survived by his children, Ken (Chyrl), Keith (Susan), and Kimberly, as well as his grandchildren: Elizabeth, Alexander (Sara), Joshua (Rachel), and Caleb. He is also survived by his only sibling, Neil Mullins, a retired ordained minister residing in Arizona. Wayne held a special fondness for his church family at Trinity Pentecostal Church.
Wayne leaves behind a legacy of love through his three children, and his kindness, generosity, and profound impact on their lives will be cherished by family and friends alike. His spirit will continue to shine through the memories he created and the lives he transformed. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Wayne fought the good fight, finished the race, and remained faithful. Now, the prize awaits him—the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will grant him on the day of His return. This prize is not just for Wayne but for all who eagerly look forward to His appearing. (2 Timothy 4:7-8).
Services for Wayne will be at 11:00 am Saturday February 22, 2025 at Trinity Pentecostal Church Springfield, MO. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 am Saturday prior to the service. Graveside service will at Spring River Cemetery in Verona, MO., at a later date.
