Wesley Eugene Reynolds died on Tues. May 9, 2017, at the age of 89. He was a resident of Maranatha Village in Springfield, Mo.

Wesley was born on Oct. 19, 1927, in McCook, Ne., to Francis and Lila (Campbell) Reynolds. Wesley grew up helping his father work on cars at the Equity, and doing farm labor work for the Ervin family on the Nebraska plains. At the age of 17, he signed on with the Navy and served as a yeoman , transcribing proceedings on the U. S. S. George, on Guam and in the Phillipines.

In 1948, Wesley returned to McCook, and married Miriam Rouch, his sweetheart since their teenage years. He attended Central Bible Institute in Springfield, Mo., and was ordained in 1954 with the Assemblies of God. He served ministries in Hershey, Mitchell, and Omaha, Ne., Iowa, Belleville, Il. ,and Ottawa, KS. He served Nebraska churches as a District Christ Ambassador President, then later in Iowa, Illinois and Kansas as a Presbyter. He attained his 60th year of ordination in 2015. He and Miriam celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary on Nov. 25, 2016.

As a father and husband, Wesley encouraged and supported musicianship in the family. His wife is an accomplished pianist, and Wesley transported children and instruments to lessons, recitals and concerts. Into his mid-eighties, Wesley himself played baritone as he was able in a weekly orchestra.

He is survived by his wife Miriam Reynolds; children Gregg Reynolds, Cherilyn (Terry) Trusty, and Brent Reynolds; grandson Tyler Trusty; siblings Virginia (Robert) Bolles, Eldon (Jeannette) Reynolds, Stanley (Jeanine) Reynolds, Maurice (Saundra) Reynolds, Kendrick Reynolds, and Kathleen (Ron) White,. He was predeceased by his parents; siblings Robert Reynolds, Irene Tourtellotte, and three who died in infancy, Larry, Lavern, and ‘Little Girl Reynolds’.

Services for Rev. Reynolds are to be held on Friday, May 12, at Maranatha Chapel on Norton Road in Springfield, Mo., with visitation at 10 am and funeral at 11 am with Chaplain Paddock presiding.
