William Preston Henry, 97, Springfield, MO. passed away May 22, 2021. He was born in Seymour, MO. on March 14, 1924, to Guss and Ivy (Pitman) Henry. He was a United States Army veteran and a member of Crossway Baptist Church. He loved telling others he met about Christ and what Christ had done for him. He had a long work career, after his service to his country, he worked for White Motor Company, and Vincel Buick. He got training in repairing diesel engines through his work at the G.M. dealership. Later, he got into the heating and air conditioning repair business, working at Ozark York Company, before starting his own business, which he owned for 10 years. He retired from the Springfield Housing Authority, and he started working again after his retirement. He loved helping people and made the world a better place by using his many talents.
Preston was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 58 years, Joy R. Henry, daughter: Catherine R. Sifford, and his son, William P. Henry Jr.
Preston is survived by his daughter: Elaine E. Gazaway, son: Todd O. Henry and his wife: Deneau L. Henry, six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at Greenlawn Funeral Home North. Burial with Military Honors will be at Missouri Veterans Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before services, from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. before services. Memorial donations are suggested in Preston’s memory to Crossway Baptist Church.
