William “Bill” Wilson went to meet Jesus on Friday, January 16, 2026 at Cox South Hospital in Springfield, Missouri. He is preceded in death by his parents Stewart and Isabella Wilson, sister Nessie Watson, brother Stewart Wilson, wife Margaret “Maggie” Wilson, son Stewart Wilson, and son in law Mark Lorenz
Bill was born on May 22, 1929, in Edinburgh, Scotland. He was raised at Pow Flats, a
working dairy farm where he worked along with his father and brother. Bill met his true love Maggie in Toronto, Canada where their love story began on September 20, 1957, they were married 63 years. During those years they lovingly raised three children and lived in three countries before settling in Wheeling, Illinois in 1967. Bill played the bag pipes and joined a pipe band in Chicago and marched in many parades. Bill gave his life over to Jesus at the First Baptist Church in Wheeling. After vacationing in the Ozarks, they fell in love with the area and decided it was a great place to move their family. In June of 1977 the family moved to Kimberling City, Missouri and owned businesses in Kimberling City and Branson before retiring. Bill was a wonderful husband and father and an amazing caretaker to Maggie in her later years.
Bill and Maggie were members of Bloom Church in Branson where they formed many close and wonderful friendships. They lived in Siena Estates where they felt at home and loved the close community. Bill walked 2 miles a day at the Branson Rec-plex with friends for over 12 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family and relaxing on the beach in Perdido Key Florida. Bill was avid sports fan a diehard Dallas Cowboys and Chicago Cubs fan and enjoyed watching soccer.
Bill leaves behind two daughters: Moira Darst, Morag Lorenz, daughter in law: Sammy Wilson, 6 grandchildren: Addison Wilson, Olivia Darst, Tyler (Jazzle) Darst, Erika (Thomas MacGregor), Kyle (Kensley) Lorenz, Jack Lorenz, 3 great grandchildren: Caroline MacGregor, Sophia Lorenz and William Lorenz.
Bill lived a long, wonderful, blessed life and will be missed dearly by family and friends. A Celebration of Life for Bill will be held in his honor on Thursday, January 22, 2026 at 3:00 pm at Greenlawn Funeral Home in Branson, Missouri.
