Wilma Alexander, age 96, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away on April 16, 2025, at Maranatha Residential Facility. Wilma was born to Charles and Helena (Badgett) Squyers on August 23, 1928, in Texas, and was the youngest of thirteen children. Wilma was united in marriage to Henry Frank Alexander on October 5, 1946. They enjoyed sixty-two years of marriage. The couple was blessed with four children: Charline, Leetta, Alvin and Anthony.
Wilma enjoyed being a housewife, as well as a career in a sewing factory, and driving a school bus in her later years. When not working, she enjoyed church, quilting, gardening, and jigsaw puzzles. Her greatest joy came from being with family. She loved visiting family and friends and spending time together.
Wilma was preceded in death by her mother; father; twelve siblings; favorite son-in-law, Richard Martin; and husband, Henry. She is survived by her children: Charline Alexander, Leetta Martin, Alvin Alexander and his wife, Betty, and Tony Alexander and his wife, Karen. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Wilma’s family will host a visitation on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, from 10:00 am -12:00 pm, at Greenlawn Funeral Home North. A graveside service will be held immediately following the visitation in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, where Wilma will be laid to rest next to her husband, Henry.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made in Wilma’s memory to Phoenix Home Care and Hospice located at 1839 E Independence St, Apt K, Springfield, MO 65804 (417-881-7442).
Arrangements are under the compassionate direction of Greenlawn Funeral Home North in Springfield, Missouri.
