Danny Ray Moore
Our husband, daddy, son and friend, Danny Ray Moore, went home to be with God in heaven on September 11, 2014 after a 3 year battle with non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. Danny will be forever remembered for his sense of humor, love for fishing and drag racing and time with his wife, kids and grandkids. Danny Ray Moore was born in Lawton, OK on April 15, 1947 to Dan and Mildred (Smith) Moore, joining the family with four other siblings: Christine, Betty, Jimmy and Roger. Danny graduated from Lawton High School in 1965. On July 15, 1966, Danny and Connie Etter were married in his family home in Lawton. Danny and Connie had three children in the 1960’s and 1970’s, Julie, Ronnie and Misti. In 1995, Danny and Connie completed their loving family with the adoption of a little girl named Shania. Danny and his family resided mostly in Oklahoma before being led to the Springfield area by Danny’s employer, Ozark News Distributors, owned by Curt Plotner. In 1992, Mr. Plotner gave Danny the opportunity to become part-owner in his successful business and Danny always felt he owed his success to Mr. Plotner. That business sold in 2012 at the same time Danny had a relapse of Stage 4 non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. A simple man, Danny loved many things in life but more than anything, fishing and racing. He spent his early years with friends and son fishing the lakes of Missouri and his favorite fishing hole, Falcon Lake in Texas. For nearly 10 years, Danny traveled many states with an NHRA racing team where he met many friends along the way that have always been there for him. Danny is survived by his wife, Connie, his son Ronnie Moore and wife Angel, his daughter Misti Preston and husband Blaine, and daughter Shania Moore of the home. He is also survived by his five grandchildren, Tyler Palmer, Sydni Moore, Tiffani Moore, Sophi Moore and Bodey Dray Preston, his brother Roger Moore of Lawton, OK, his sister Betty Williams of Tulsa, OK and many nieces, nephews, and friends that were just like family. Danny was dual member of First Baptist Church in Republic, MO and Orchard Crest Baptist Church in Springfield, MO. Services for Danny will be held at Greenlawn Funeral Homes-East, 3540 East Seminole, Springfield, MO. The visitation will be held on Monday, Sept. 15 from 6-8 p.m. The funeral will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 16 at 11 a.m. He will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Cemetery, 3506 North National, Springfield, immediately following funeral services. Pall bearers include Connie Moore (wife), Ronnie Moore (son), Misti Preston (daughter), Shania Moore (daughter), Roger Moore (brother), Ricky Moore (nephew), Blaine Preston (son-in-law) and Daniel Scott (friend). Honorary pall bearers include Phillip Scott, Charles White, Sandy Clark, Eddie Selvey, Willie Bishop and Jimmy Jones – all great friends of Danny.
