Larry Groves passed away Tuesday, December 16, 2014 in the home where he was born 72 years earlier: He wrote:
I have the fortunate opportunity to write my own obituary prior to my death, which will occur in the next few weeks as a result of of pancreatric cancer. I have had a wonderful full life and leave behind with great sadness, my marvelous wife, Bartbara, of 53 years who has been my caring soul mate and always believed in me. I also leave behind three outstanding children who have given me tremendous pride in all they have done and continue to do. My oldest son Jason and his wife Judy; Trenton and his wife Jennifer; and Elizabeth Rosen and husband Scott, all living in the Los Angeles area. In addition, my two brothers and two sisters whom I have loved dearly throughout my life: Carolyn Bonner, Warner Robbins, GA; James Groves and wife Judy, West Plains, MO; David Groves, Nevada, MO; and Linda Gillham and husband Stan. My parents, Warren and Ella Groves preceded me in death, my half brother George E. Jackson of Indianapolis, IN; and the most heart wrenching loss of my eldest son, Scott who lived in Scappose, Oregon and died at the early age of 50 fro heart disease in 2013. Barbara and I continue to grieve over the loss of this wonderful man.
I also want to express my extreme joy and love my grandchildren have given me over the past years; Lora Myers, Alex Myers, Jack Groves, Nate Groves, Jake Groves and Asher Rosen. I will sorely miss the many nieces, nephews, and cousins who have provided me with many happy memories.
I want to give thanks and love to our very special friends of over 30 years Brian and Kathy Doyle of West Hills, CA. along with my childhood neighbor and friend, David Krasser and his wife Micaela. David’s mother was my first grade teacher.
In addition, I want to give special thanks to Hospice Compassus and their staff in providing me compassionate tender care over the remainder of my life. I wish to express my sincere love for all the caring friends I have known throughout my life and bid all farewells.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday December 27, 2014 in Greenlawn Funeral Home North. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice Compassus
