Richard Alan Miller, 67, of Springfield Missouri, formerly of Staunton, VA, was born July 23, 1953 and died Monday, May 10, 2021.He is the son of Russell and Wilma Miller, both of whom preceded him in death.
Rick graduated from West Plains High School in 1971. He attended the University of Arkansas for two years and received his bachelor’s degree from Mary Baldwin College in Staunton, VA. He spent much of his adult life as a comptroller for the Augusta County Coop in Staunton.
Rick and Nanci Watkins married on October 1, 1977. They were blessed with their son, Christopher, on June 1, 1988.
He was known to friends and family as a caring, easy-going person with a dry, quick wit. He liked fishing but he loved catching. He could take golf two ways, either playing or watching. He loved to travel and had aspired to visit all 50 states. He was a huge Cardinals fan and had a man crush on Aaron Rodgers. He was a devoted Jeopardy participant and extraordinary at Words with Friends. He could quite possibly quote the price of any Walmart shelf item off the top of his head. Rick was saved at an early age. Throughout his life he sought the guidance of Jesus Christ and strived to be faithful to Him.
He is survived by his son, Christopher and Chris’ mother, Nanci Miller. He is also survived by brothers and sisters-in-law Bill and Mary Beth Miller and George and Brenda Miller and many cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts, and an uncle.
Rick will be sorely missed by his friends and family. He has left for his eternal reward into the glory of the presence of Jesus leaving us with an unfillable empty space. Grandpa Blankenship’s tune for Rick now rings true: “Rickety Rack has lost his shack.”
In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to Mindy Lahey Hughston memorial fund or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
Rick’s memorial service will be at Greenlawn Funeral Home East, 3540 E. Seminole, Springfield, MO on Friday, May 14, 2021. Visitation will begin at 1:00 P.M. and the memorial service will begin at 2:00 P.M.
