It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Albert Lee Shockley, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Albert was born on September 1, 1946, in Webster County, Missouri, and he returned to the Lord on December 22, 2024, at the age of 78.
Albert and his wife, Sally, were married on September 4, 1970, at Sacred Heart Church in Conway, Missouri.
Throughout his life, Albert was known for his kindness and unwavering dedication to his family. He leaves behind his beloved wife of many years, Sally Shockley, and their cherished daughters, Sherri Lumley, and Jennifer Chainey and husband Justin. He also adored his grandchildren: Preston Lumley, Hailey Shepard, Jordan Chainey, Rylee Chainey, and Macy Lumley, as well as his great-grandchildren: Maleah Smith, Moniah Smith, Axton Tuter, Braylin Chainey, and Mozzlow Shepard.
In addition to his immediate family, Albert is survived by his siblings, Paul Shockley, Peggy Shields and husband Bill, Sharon and husband Victor Peterson, Bob and Lynette Shockley, and Tom and Phyllis Shockley, along with several nieces and nephews. Albert’s warmth and love will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Albert was preceded in death by his parents, Lee Shockley and Fern Shockley; and his brother Paul’s wife: Marsha Shockley.
Albert had a tender heart and a passion for caring for his yard, where he found joy in nurturing the beauty of nature. His commitment to his work as a driver in the grocery industry showcased his strong work ethic and dedication to serving others.
The family would like to invite friends and loved ones to honor Albert’s life. There will be a visitation from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Sunday, December 29, 2024, at Greenlawn Funeral Home North. A funeral Mass will be at St. Joseph Catholic church at 1115 North Campbell Avenue, in Springfield on December 30, 2024, at 10:00 AM. Following the service, Albert will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. 3506 North National Avenue, Springfield, MO 65803.
In this time of sorrow, we find solace in cherishing the memories of a man who touched so many lives with his love and compassion. Albert Lee Shockley will be missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know him.
