Alberta Owens, 77 of Halfway, MO, passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at Cox Medical Center in Springfield MO. She was born February 11, 1934 in Godfrey, Kansas to William David Lusk and Opal M. (Hawkins) Lusk. She graduated from high school in Louisburg MO, and worked as a homemaker for most of her life.
Alberta was preceded in death by her husband, Willis (Bud)Owens Jr., her parents, David and Opal Lusk, and two brothers, Franklin and Thomas Lusk.
She is survived by two daughters, Diana Gero-Thurston and husband Ed, of Simpsonville, S.C. and Teena Busby of Springfield, two sons, Dan Owens and wife Emma of Halfway, MO, and Michael Owens and wife Carrie of Independence MO . She is also survived by one sister, Emojane Stokesberry of Louisburg, MO, 9 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild, and a very special longtime friend Vern Cox.
Funeral Mass for Alberta Owens will be at 10:00a.m. Saturday, July 30, 2011 in Pitts Chapel in Bolivar, MO with Father Pat Wissman officiating ,with burial to follow in the Star Ridge Cemetery in Rimby, MO. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00p.m. Friday, July 29, 2011 in the chapel. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Steeple Fund at Star Ridge Church. Friends and family are invited to gather immediately following the burial, at Pittsburg Community Center, Pittsburg, MO.
