Alfred Wayne Chittenden, age 93, of Springfield Mo., passed away on Saturday, March 5, 2011 in The Maples.
Alfred was born on November 13, 1917 in Springfield Mo.; the son of Aubra and Orpha Stratton Chittenden.
Alfred was a U.S. Army veteran of W.W.II.
In his early life he loved to hunt and fish, upon retirement he loved to do woodworking. Alfred also loved to attend National Heights Baptist Church; where he was a charter member and served as a deacon. He also loved to travel.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Fay (Chastain) Chittenden; his parents; and four brothers and sisters.
He is survived by three sons, Ted Chittenden of Springfield Mo., Monty Wayne Chittenden of Springfield Mo., and Ron Stuart Chittenden of Nixa Mo.; two daughters, Donna Lynn Eagon of Springfield Mo., and Janet Fay Goodwin of Point Lookout, Mo; nine grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Hildred; and former spouse, Mary Jane Barton.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 9, 2011 in Greenlawn Funeral Home North with Dr. Vaughn Weatherford officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 8, 2011 from 6 to 8 00 p.m. also in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
