Alice Caroline Doran Baldwin went home to be with her Lord on April 5, 2025 in Nixa, Missouri at the age of 101. She was born on June 16, 1923 in Springfield, Missouri to Allen Mitchell and Adah Bithiah Yoxall Doran.
The second of four children, Alice attended Ritter School and graduated from Springfield Senior High in 1941. After studying at Draughon’s Business College she was employed at the Gospel Publishing House. Following a long distance courtship during the war, Alice married Duard Baldwin on June 22, 1944. Not long after, Susan Elaine joined the new family followed soon by Brenda Jeanne. Randall Stephen came along a few years later, with little sister, Sandra Denise, completing the family.
Always a faithful partner in the gospel, she helped her husband to pioneer and pastor several churches in Oklahoma, Indiana, and Connecticut and also locally at Ozark Assembly of God. She kept the home fires burning while Duard did mission work in Honduras. In later years she traveled with him on mission to the Fiji Islands and Alaska. Alice enjoyed her work at the Gospel Publishing House and retired after 40 years of service. Duard and Alice were married for 65 years.
Alice loved the Lord and she loved her family! Wife, Mother, Grandma, and Grandma Great were her prized titles. Homemade pies and Chocolate Moist Cake were legendary! Family celebrations were occasions not to be missed!
While living in Springfield, Alice contributed as a loyal and loving member of Central Assembly, Calvary Temple, King’s Chapel, Parkcrest Assembly, and most recently at Evangel Temple. Alice was a sweet friend and sister in the Lord to many through her years on this earth. And so it was fitting and beautiful that with family, friends, and caregivers gathered around, we sang her home.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Duard; her brothers, Allen, John, and Albert Doran; her sister-in-law, Betty Doran; and son-in-law, Vyrl Pember.
She leaves behind her four children: Susan Pember of Springfield, Missouri; Brenda Stiles and husband, Wally of Nixa, Missouri; Randy Baldwin and wife, Sonja of Highlandville, Missouri; and Sandi Russo and husband, Dale of Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania.
Alice’s eight grandchildren are Matt Stiles and wife, Erin; Ryan Baldwin and wife, Shelley; Lauren Short and husband, Stephen; Jeremy Pember and wife, Dana; Alicyn Jennings and husband, Justin; Jonathan Pember; Noelle Russo and fiancee’, Justin Johnson; and Natalie Russo.
Alice’s thirteen great-grandchildren are: Kylie, Lexie, and Lainie Pember; Éanna, Neve, and Cían Baldwin; Mary Alice, Massey, Cade, and Colter Short; and Adeline, Finley, and Jack Jennings.
Alice will be dearly missed by two special nieces, Judy Doran Cochran (Tom) and Jana Doran Woodall (Brent) and a multitude of friends!
Special thanks goes to the staff of Nixa Nursing and Rehab in Nixa as well as Preferred Hospice for their tender, loving care for Alice.
Visitation will be Monday, April 14th at 1:00 pm at Greenlawn East, 3540 Seminole St. Springfield, MO, followed by the service at
