Alice Louise Cunningham, age 92, of Columbia, MO, passed away Monday, October 31, 2011 at Bluff Creek Nursing Home in Columbia, MO. She was born August 13, 1919, in St Louis City, MO, to Robert and Edna (Carter) Sullivan. She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Alice and her husband Pete owned and operated the Cunningham Drug Store in Springfield, MO. She was an avid canvas artist and loved to sew, crochet and quilt. She had “outfished” her brother. Alice loved to collect blue glassware and hand-tinted photographs. Alice made her special chili for the drug store and was an all-around good cook. She traveled in her later years and played the piano and organ. She was a very special person helping with several family and friends in their daily needs.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, James Elton {Pete} Cunningham,in 1971; two brothers, Charles and James Sullivan; and sister, Mary Jane Reynolds.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Robert Ray and wife Ilana Sue Cunningham of Columbia, MO; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; sister, Nellie Burch; a brother, Robert Sullivan; brother-in-law, Frank Reynolds; sister-in-law, Sue Carol Chenaie; many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Mass of Chrisitian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m., in Holy Trinity Catholic Church on Friday, November 4, 2011, with Fr. J. Fergus Monaghan officiating. Burial will be held in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Springfield, MO. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 5 :00 p.m., at Greenlawn Funeral Home North on Thursday, November 3, 2011.
