Alice Jeanine (Tate) Campbell peacefully passed from this life to her heavenly home on Wednesday, March 30, 2022. She was born in Springfield, MO on November 4, 1934 to the late Loren M. Tate and Mary E. (Felthoff) Tate.
Jeanine was a loving wife to Ralph Edward Scott until his untimely death in August,1982, and to John Keith Campbell who preceded her in March 2005. Jeanine was a mother to David Scott (Lori), Alice Scott (Don Leveque), and Daniel Scott (Melissa); she was Grandma-J to Nick Scott (Joanna), Christa Rieger (Kevin), and Craig Scott (Megan); and GGMa-J to Rebekah, Brier, Barrett, Gideon, and Indiana. She was preceded by her parents, and her brother, James D. Tate.
After graduation from Springfield Senior High School in 1952, she enrolled at State College. Upon completion of eleven business courses, she became a dedicated housewife until her children entered grade school. She retired from a 24-year career with Sears, then again after five years at Builder’s Square. Jeanine also enjoyed working retirement jobs at Yellowstone National Park and at the U.S. Census Bureau. She enjoyed travelling, time with family and friends, and was an ardent Booster for Drury basketball teams. She was honored in 2016 with a Lifetime Achievement Award and inducted into the Drury Sports Hall of Fame. Jeanine was a baptized member of Immanuel Baptist church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Drury University for the Ralph Scott and Jeanine Scott Campbell Basketball Scholarship Fund to aid athletes in the future on the men’s or women’s basketball teams, or to a church or charity of your choice.
Visitation for Jeanine will be 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 8, at Greenlawn Funeral Home East. Services will follow at 2:00 p.m. under the direction of Greenlawn Funeral Home East in Springfield, Missouri. A Celebration of Life reception will be offered for family and friends at the O’Reilly Events Center in the hospitality room from 4p.m. to 6p.m. following the service. A private burial will be held at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
