Alice Marie (Barton) Henry, age 68, of Springfield, Missouri, passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior on February 1, 2024, while she was surrounded by her husband and family. Alice was born to John William “Bill” Barton and Florence Elizabeth (Dwyer) Barton on September 20, 1955. She was raised in Springfield and graduated from Willard High School in 1973. Alice was united in marriage to Art Henry on April 7, 1984, at Glidewell Baptist Church. The couple shared 39 years and 10 months of marriage before Alice’s untimely passing.
Alice was employed as an administrative assistant with Associated Wholesale Grocers Springfield Division for nearly 40 years. She was a dedicated member of Macedonia Baptist Church in Springfield. When not working, Alice enjoyed ceramics, teaching Sunday School and singing in the choir at Macedonia Baptist Church. She also enjoyed her many visits to Branson.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Florence Barton; brother, James Staton; sister, Linda Hampton; and mother-in-law, Ruth Henry. She is survived by her husband, Art Henry; siblings, Mary McConnell, Carolyn Swearengin, John Barton Jr., David (Pattie) Barton, Sara (Max) Miller; brother-in-law, Keith (Cheryl) Henry; sister-in-law, Mary Paddock; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A visitation for Alice Marie Henry will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2024, from 9:00-10:00 am, at Macedonia Baptist Church in Springfield. Alice’s funeral service will begin immediately following her visitation at 10:00 am. Following her funeral service, Alice will be laid to rest in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
