Allan Pratt passed away March 13, 2011 at Mt. Vernon, MO. He was born December 8, 1930 in Oklahoma City to Charles R. Pratt and Erma Ruth Hublit.
He grew up in Wichita, Kan., and graduated from Wichita East High School. He attended Kansas State University before entering the Air Force in 1950.
He served tours in the VietNam War, as well as Germany, England, Turkey, Philippines, and Japan. He met his Finnish bride, Helmi, in England and they married May 29, 1954 in Braintree, England. He retired from the Air Force as Master Sergeant in 1970 to farm in Scranton, Kans.
There he farmed and also operated Burlingame Truckline for many years.
At fifty-five, he entered the racing greyhound business and operated it until his health deteriorated. They retired to Lantana, Fla.
He was preceeded in death by his parents and his sister Beverly Brown. He is survived by his wife Helmi Pratt of West Palm Beach, Fla.; daughter Celia Rowland of Raleigh, N.C.; son Daniel Pratt of Kimberling City, Mo.; daughter Jennifer Henry of Arapahoe, Neb.; son Gary Pratt of Lawrence, Kan.; and nine grandchildren and five step-grandchildren.
A private military service was held at the Missouri Veteran’s Cemetery in Springfield, Mo. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation
